Zinn Rug Gallery was founded by Nese O. Zinn in 1981 and established as a corporation in 1983. The gallery has operated out of Charleston, South Carolina since its inception.

Ms. Zinn was born and raised in Turkey and attended schools in Turkey, Europe and the United States. She immigrated to the United States in 1969 and worked on the waterfront until the early ‘80s retiring as a V.P. of traffic for ocean carriers. During this time her love of art, travel and imports from Turkey were a constant dream. This dream started becoming a reality when a few of her friends asked her to provide Turkish rugs for them as the ones they had seen in her house. What started as a hobby is now one of the largest suppliers of antique and semi-antique rugs and kilims from Turkey, Iran, The Caucasus, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Central Asia.

The news about the exquisite selection of rugs, along with the honesty and integrity of the company spread fast throughout the community by word-of-mouth and Zinn Rug Gallery had to expand to meet the demand of clients not only in the low-country but from around the world. The gallery now represents large and well-known dealers like Asmara, Odegard, Has Hali, Stile BK and Lapchi for needlepoints, aubussons, savonniles, jute rugs and Tibetan rugs.
